Join the Team
Joining the Team
Every year we welcome a small number of new volunteers to replace members who leave due to work, family or training commitments. We aim to maintain an active team of around 45 operational volunteers.
Joining Brecon Mountain Rescue Team is a significant commitment. The police, the public and the people we rescue rely on us to respond with sufficient numbers and the right experience — no matter the time, terrain or weather.
Prospective hill members begin with a formal pre-assessment, followed by approximately 12 months of supervised training before a final assessment. Successful candidates then serve as probationary members for another year before becoming full operational team members.
When recruitment opens, announcements are made on our social media channels, so keep an eye out if you’d like to join.
Support Roles
We also rely on volunteers to help with vehicle operations, managing our HQ and fundraising. These roles are vital to keep the team running and our service free to those in need.
If you have the enthusiasm and time to help — whether on the hill, behind the scenes or at community events — we’d love to hear from you.
