Every year, we run two challenging hillwalking events in the beautiful surroundings of Bannau Brycheiniog, the Brecon Beacons. 

Every penny raised from both the Black Dragon Challenge and Beat the Beacons goes directly towards funding the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team.

Take part and you’ll not only challenge yourself but also make a huge difference by helping to keep our life-saving service running. 

Why we need you!

It costs £65,000 a year to run our 24/7, 365-days a year emergency rescue service. We’re 100% run by volunteers and receive no external funding—so your support is vital as every pound comes from generous supporters like you.

We’ll look after you while you’re helping us

Both the Black Dragon Challenge and BEAT are run by our professional Mountain Rescue Team. We’ll be there to help keep you safe, every step of the way.

A choice of Three Routes -  28 mile (44km) Endurance Route, 22 miles (36Km) Standard Route, and 16 mile (27Km) Ridge Route Route

Starting and ending in Llangors
