The team were alerted by colleagues from CBMRT to a participant on a DofE gold expedition sustained a suspected broken ankle on difficult ground on the Taff Trail just west of Beacons Reservoir. Her DofE instructor (an MRT member) requested mountain rescue assistance after providing first aid and believing that the casualty was not able to weight bear and could not be evacuated without mountain rescue help. However, the 2 owners of the DofE organisation evacuated the casualty themselves by asking the casualty to hop on one leg with assistance and then 'piggy backed; her to the car park at Pont ar Daf. This was against the advice of the instructor. Both CBMRT & BMRT were stood down on route before reaching the casualty site.
