Tony Peers

It is with a sense of great sadness & loss that we must acknowledge the passing of our friend & team-mate Tony Peers. He died of a heart attack on Saturday 10th March, at the age of 47, while returning from a climbing session. Our sympathies go out to his dear friend Lowri Thomas, his family in Yorkshire and his mates (especially those in the forces, with whom he'd been through thick & thin).

Tony was a kind and gentle man who will always be remembered for his beaming smile and laughing eyes. He once said that he'd 'seen it all & done most of it...'
He loved the mountains and especially the Beacons where he'd carried out much of his military training. He had only been with Brecon MRT for 18 months and had proved himself to be the sort of guy who never complained, but just got on with it. Quiet & reliable, he was quite simply a 'good bloke'.

Our thoughts are summed up by these memories from some of our team:

"Tony was a true gentleman & team player who always had time for everyone and will be sadly missed. As a fellow member of the Airborne Brotherhood I know what he's achieved & been through. It only seemed like yesterday that we were chatting in the Tai'r Bull... unbelievable really. It's testament to make sure you give every thing in life."

"Tony wasn't with us too long, but I'll always remember him for his smile & cheerfulness. He was very competent and would have had a long and distinguished future in the team. We have lost a good guy."
