INSTRUCTIONS
FOR PARTICIPANTS SEEKING SPONSORSHIP TO BENEFIT BRECON MOUNTAIN
RESCUE TEAM
Brecon MRT is grateful for the efforts of
participants who gather donations for the team through sponsorship.
We would like to support those wishing to raise funds for
us, and as a starter we have produced the forms necessary
to get you started. Because everyone's internet browser and
pc is set up differently we can only produce the forms for
distribution on the website using Adobe Acrobat format. Most
computers will have the Acrobat reader already installed but
if you don't have it, or would like it updated, we have provided
the link to the left. If you are uncertain about using Acrobat
(it is very easy) please e-mail or write to us and we can
dispatch the hardcopy forms by traditional means!

There are two pages, an introduction sheet
and sponsor form in each set. The intro sheet gives some basic
information about our financial need, to show potential donors.
The Sponsorship sheet is the main sheet you will use to record
the donations received and to summarise the donations collected.
There will be only one of these sheets competed. The second
form is the donation collection form and if you are able to
find more donors than fit on the page (which we would like
to encourage) use another copy of the form and number the
continuation sheets 2,3…etc.
VERY IMPORTANT. The donation collection form
provided is also a Gift Aid declaration. If the person who
sponsors is a tax payer, simply asking them to tick and sign
the declaration form and put their address against it will
allow the team to reclaim extra money (about 28.2% of their
donation) from the Inland Revenue! Money for Nothing! Please
encourage as many donors as possible to do this so that we
might gain the extra funds. Please reassure donors that their
names and addresses remain secure and will not be disclosed
to anyone. We have to have the names, addresses and signatures
to reclaim the tax, and these will be stored securely until
the Inland Revenue say they can be destroyed. Anyone who is
uncomfortable with this can simply donate without details,
but we will then not be able to reclaim tax from the man with
the bowler hat.
When you have
completed your walk (we expect all sponsored participants
to finish the course) and your donations have been collected,
you should return your forms (the Main form, the donation
collection form and any continuation sheets) together with
a cheque for the collected amount, made payable to Brecon
Mountain Rescue Team. During the collection any cheques received
should be included, but please do not send cash in the post.
Please send the package to Katie Garnett at the contact address
given at the foot of the forms.
We
will reply, confirming safe receipt of the package
and thanking you for your help in funding the team.
Thanks for taking the time to help us provide
our service to hill users and the public at large.

out the forms at your leisure.
