This year's calls have been recorded in accordance with MRC requirements, logging each incident where MR resources have been used, even if only to talk to disoriented groups on mobile phones to get them back onto the right track (a method of sorting a problem far superior to dragging our members away from wives, husbands, lovers or even bosses!). Minor incidents, such as calls where we provide only advice or where we assist members of the public that we happen to bump into are not recorded.

2001 was the quietest year for some time, both in terms of number of calls and man hours. The team responded to 16 calls in 12 months. This was primarily due to the government's closure of most of the countryside in an attempt to prevent the spread of Foot & Mouth Disease that had a devastating effect on the Brecon Beacons and its communities.
