Call-Outs 2000

These statistics are gathered in accordance with the Mountain Rescue Council's requirements and report each occasion the team was called by the Police. Some incidents required only the co-ordinators advice, some were stood down en-route and the remainder required the team's deployment. The man (and woman) hours provided by the team for each incident are also indicated. In summary, the team provided 2337 specialist man hours to the community, hill walkers and farmers.

Analysis of the figures reveals that the team provided 1475 hours to Dyfed Powys Police, 679 hours to South Wales Police, 141 hours to Gwent Police and 42 of the very first hours of the new millennium to West Mercia Police. During 2000 the team attended 24 mountain incidents and 25 non-mountain incidents, such as searching for persons missing from home. Whilst the incidents split roughly 50/50, the team provided 780 hours to resolve the mountain incidents and 1557 hours to community search and rescue efforts. Whilst our roots lie in mountain rescue our main benefactor is now the community at large.
